FC Cincinnati's Matt Miazga was named the 2023 MLS Defender of the Year on Monday.

He started in 10 clean sheets during the regular season and FCC allowed only 28 goals in his 27 matches.

Miazga, 28, helped the club capture the Supporters' Shield with a 20-5-9 record (69 points).

The 2023 MLS All-Star received 25.45 percent of the aggregate votes from players, club technical staff and media.

Tim Parker of St. Louis City SC finished second (10.46 percent) and the Seattle Sounders' Yeimar Gomez Andrade was third (9.3 percent).

Miazga has recorded three goals and two assists in 71 MLS matches (67 starts) with New York Red Bulls (2013-15) and Cincinnati (2022-23).
