Harry Kane made history on Tuesday night by becoming the first British player ever to score 50 goals in UEFA club competitions.

Kane reached the landmark when he found the net with a diving header to put Bayern Munich 1-0 up against Lazio.

He then scored his 51st continental club goal later in the game to wrap up a 3-0 victory.

Kane's 51 goals have come in 84 appearances.

He netted 45 times in 76 European games for former club Tottenham Hotspur and has now bagged six goals in eight Champions League matches for Bayern.

Kane is one of only three British players to have scored at least 40 club goals in Europe.

The others are Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard with 41 and former Manchester United frontman Wayne Rooney with 40.

Perhaps surprisingly, Wales icon Gareth Bale only scored 24 times across his Champions League and Europa League career.

Three of those goals came in UCL finals for Real Madrid.

Top British scorers in UEFA club competitions

  1. Harry Kane - 51 goals for Tottenham and Bayern Munich
  2. Steven Gerrard - 41 goals for Liverpool
  3. Wayne Rooney - 40 goals for Manchester United and Everton
