Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says that the fitness of Erling Haaland will be a last minute decision.

The Sky Blues will give the Norway forward every chance to play against Liverpool on Saturday.

Guardiola knows that his side must win if they are to keep pace with Arsenal at the Premier League summit.

Speaking during a news conference, Guardiola said: "Haaland is in recovery and we'll see how he feels in the last training session.

He also added: "Phil Foden is about two or three weeks away, so we'll see how he develops after his appendix surgery."

On upcoming opponents Liverpool and the season they are experiencing, Guardiola said: "Jurgen Klopp and I know each other, we have both been managers for many years.

"Every club can have ups and downs. My opinion about Liverpool remains the same, whether they win the Champions League or have ups and downs. They will always be a big rival.

"We have this game and then a tough schedule with many games, but the most important thing is that after many years, we are still fighting and that is so good.

"Winning is good, it gives you confidence but to sustain it for 10 months is so difficult."

"Football is about the quality of the players, the tactics and the skill of the players.

"We saw most of the players come back from international break and we'll have a last assessment on Haaland today.

"We have incredible physiotherapists and sport scientists. Almost all the squad is doing well.

"We are arriving at the end of the season with all the players available."
