Toby Alderweireld returned to Tottenham ahead of their match against Vitesse in London to say goodbye to the fans.

The club had sold him to Al-Duhail earlier this year, and there hadn’t been a good time for him to say his goodbyes until that day.

The Lilywhites posted the video of the defender on their Twitter account yesterday and captioned it:

“Legend status.

“You’ll always be welcome at Tottenham Hotspur, @AlderweireldTob!”

Most of the fans had a problem with the Belgian being called a legend, and they corrected the club about it in the comments.

The Boy Hotspur Says

The word legend has truly been thrown around too easily nowadays and it is commendable that some fans still understand it takes a lot more to be a legend at Tottenham.

Alderweireld was a part of a Tottenham squad that impressed at the club and nearly won the Champions League in 2019.

If they had succeeded, he would probably have attained legendary status.

Since that never happened, he is simply one of the finest players we have had in the last decade.
