Orlando City SC signed 17-year-old homegrown defender Tahir Reid-Brown to a first-team contract.

The deal announced Tuesday runs through the 2027 season and includes a club option for 2028.

Reid-Brown, who joined the Orlando City Academy in 2020, is the 15th homegrown player in franchise history.

He played in 10 games (one start) and helped Orlando City B to its first MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs appearance. The Orlando native played in six games in the Lions' 2022 MLS NEXT pro season.

"Tahir is a player that has been in our Academy system for a while now and someone that we've seen really grow through our development pathway," general manager Luiz Muzzi said. "He has great potential for growth as a player and we're excited to see how he takes his opportunity with the First Team."

Reid-Brown was named to the 2023 MLS NEXT All-Star Game and was called up to the U.S. Under-17 Men's Youth National Team at the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup, where he made three appearances.
