R-Truth and The Miz managed to finally capture the WWE World Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 40. Recently, while speaking on the Battleground podcast, the multi-time WWE 24/7 Champion reflected on his WrestleMania moment. The moment was special as he also got to win championship gold in front of his son.

“Oh man! There was so much man. First, it being the biggest WrestleMania of all time, 40… Loaded, stacked card. The Final Boss, TKO, there were so many things that made this such a memorable moment man. The longevity I’ve had in this business to like finally getting that WrestleMania moment. Again, my son was there and I was able to watch him win the conference championship. And he was able to watch me get that moment.”

R-Truth’s medical expenses were over $5000 a week

R-Truth missed most of 2023 due to a torn quadricep injury. During the same interview, Truth reflected on his journey towards recovery.

“I had quad tendon surgery. I had an infection that I couldn’t bend my leg for four months straight. Just walking just like… You know what I’m saying? So it was like… Coming from that, my antibiotics was for $5000 a week. That’s how much… I had Staff, MRSA, their cousins, and nephews, and uncles. I had five different bacterias. So, coming from all of that man, to being there on top of that ladder, hearing those, 78,000, hearing that full, that just… Man, that was, I don’t think life or English has the words and there’s no other language that I speak, um… Espanól, Poquito, there’s no words to explain the feeling, the roar.

“I could feel the crowd. The people that was emotional. The people that have lived and seen what I’ve been through, what I’ve conquered, what I’ve achieved… Um… The sacrifices, how many anniversaries, birthdays, graduations I’ve missed. Every moment that I’ve experienced and went through was made for that WrestleMania 40 man. I felt, and remembered, thought of, and just savored that moment. And it was just like a zoom… Everything went real fast. It was just… Uh… I took a moment man.”

R-Truth on his tag team partner The Miz

R-Truth also gave his tag team partner, The Miz, his flowers.

“And when Miz came up there, Miz has, I love Miz to death. I think he’s underrated. Me and Miz are friends outside the business. And when he came up to the ladder, he said, ‘Bro, this is your moment. Do you hear that? These people are cheering for you. You deserve it, man. I love you.’ And that was a genuine hug we did there and we both savored the rest of that moment, man. It looked just like when we was in the ring with Rock and Cena. And we was like, ‘Bro, we here. Look who we across the ring from.’ We savored that moment. So life is all about savoring the memories and the moments man, when you get a chance to. There’s no handbook to it, to life, you know what I’m saying? Nobody got it. But we’re able to achieve, excel, adapt, and make moments like that man for a lifetime that we could remember,” R-Truth said.
