Former WWE star Top Dolla revealed that he and Michael Cole were pushing to have a match with each other and in reality, there really was no heat from Cole to Dolla.

Many fans online speculated that the comments by Cole on SmackDown towards Dolla were coming from what management was telling him on headset. Cole would reference Dolla as "Flop Dolla" after a botched dive over the top rope on an episode of SmackDown.

However, during an interview with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Dolla said that he loves Cole and that they both "tried so hard to get a match set up between the two of us." Dolla added that their plan was for Cole to win the match. Dolla also pointed out that he and Cole trended all weekend after Cole said the line, "Thanks for coming, Flop Dolla" after Dolla lost a quick match to Sheamus.

"We knew what we were doing," Dolla said. "Cole was trying to get me more opportunities, right? Cole is a genius. Cole is the best and I wish nothing but the best for Michael Cole, man. I love that man."

Michael Cole reached out when Top Dolla was released

He continued, "When the release happened, he was one of the first people to reach out to me. We had a conversation. Me and Cole are cool. I love Cole, man. So the fact that people think that was real beef shows how good he is at his job and shows kayfabe is not dead, brother."

Dolla added that he's grateful for his time in WWE but the company didn't want him there and he plans to go "everywhere" in 2024. Dolla is among the long list of names released by the company in September. All of the names let go presumably have a 90 day non-compete so they would not be able to sign elsewhere until the end of December.
