Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher roasted for final play in loss to Alabama

After going back-and-forth over the summer with No. 1 Alabama's head coach Nick Saban, Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher had the chance to get the last laugh on Saturday night. Instead, Saban shut the book on the so-called rivalry as Fisher's offense flamed out thanks to a dubious play-call in the final seconds.

Fisher, the architect of Texas A&M's offense, received the brunt of the criticism following the disjointed final play.

With three seconds remaining, Texas A&M (3-3, 1-2) had the ball at Alabama's 2-yard line with a chance to pull off a last second victory. Texas A&M quarterback Haynes King's throw to wide receiver Evan Stewart was off-target, and Alabama (6-0, 3-0) was able to hang on for the 24-20 win.

The play design left King with such a tight window to throw, and from where the ball was thrown it's hard to say Stewart would have even scored had he been able to catch the pass. It left many to wonder what Fisher was thinking as he was drawing up that final play. Some even tried to imagine what the drawing looked like.

Even former Texas A&M great and former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel chimed in, calling the last play "one of the worst calls I've ever seen in my life."

All eyes were on the primetime showdown between Texas A&M and Alabama after the two head coaches got into a war-of-words in the offseason. Saban derided Fisher and A&M's success in bringing in the number-one recruiting class of 2022 as being the result of the Aggies "spending tons of money to get players."

Fisher responded by calling Saban's words "despicable."

For A&M fans, the only thing despicable after Saturday night is Fisher's final call.
