Alabama's Nick Saban: Players don't care about offseason spat with Texas A&M HC Jimbo Fisher

This offseason, Alabama head coach Nick Saban accused former assistant coach Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M of recruiting violations, setting off a fiery back-and-forth.

On Saturday, the two head coaches will have their first face-to-face meeting since the summertime fracas when No. 1 Alabama hosts Texas A&M at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Speaking with the media on Thursday, Saban said he hasn't discussed the Fisher situation with his players ahead of their matchup with the Aggies. Instead, Saban said the focus has been on winning the game as Alabama looks to avenge last year's 41-38 loss against Texas A&M.

"This game isn't about any of that, and our players don't give a s--- about it," Saban said bluntly, per ESPN's Chris Low. "This game is about the goals we want to accomplish as a team and our players creating value for themselves. That's why this game is important, not because of anything that was said about anybody."

In May, responding to Texas A&M having the nation's No. 1 recruiting class, Saban said Fisher and the Aggies "bought every player on their team." Fisher refuted the accusation and fired back soon after, calling Saban's comments "despicable" and disgusting, adding that "some people think they're god."

Since the summer, cooler heads have seemingly prevailed.

Saban said he "didn't hold grudges" when asked about Fisher in August. And, earlier this week, Fisher told reporters he and Saban were in "good shape," and both had "moved on."

Nevertheless, the postgame handshake between the two on Saturday night should be riveting television.
