The Toronto Blue Jays made a handful of roster moves ahead of their three-game series with the New York Yankees.

Brandon Belt has been activated from the 10-day Injured List, Jay Jackson has been recalled, and Spencer Horwitz and Nate Pearson have been optioned to the Florida Complex League.

This isn’t the same Sent to The Florida Complex League situation as the one from earlier this season. The minor-league season is over, so reserve players who may or not be on the team’s roster as they play through October will stay warm in case they’re called upon.

Horwitz came up when rosters were expanded at the beginning of September and he saw a decent amount of playing time while Belt was dealing with an illness and a back injury. The 25-year-old switch hitter went 8-for-31 with a homer and two doubles and struck out nine times and walked twice.

Pearson has been up and down a few times this season as the Blue Jays have cycled optionable arms to and from Buffalo to keep their bullpen fresh. In his most recent big league stint, the big righty tossed two-and-two-thirds scoreless innings and struck out two and walked two.

Belt lasted suited up for the Blue Jays during the first game of their four-game series with the Texas Rangers. He had been on the roster but out of the lineup for nearly two weeks before that and tweaked his back during his second at-bat. These final six games of the season will be an audition for Belt to see if he’s healthy enough to play in October.
