According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Kyle Lowry is the Philadelphia 76ers’ priority on the buyout market.

Lowry is expected to agree to a buyout agreement with the Charlotte Hornets, who are in 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Miami Heat traded Lowry to the Hornets in the Terry Rozier deal. Lowry averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks with the Heat this season before getting traded while shooting 42.6% from the field, 38.5% from beyond the arc and 83.3% from the foul line.

Lowry was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, so the Sixers are his hometown team. Philly is in fifth place in the East with a record of 30-20, but the team lost superstar center Joel Embiid to left knee surgery, so they may struggle for a while.

Lowry has career averages of 14.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors and Heat. The Villanova product helped the Raptors win the 2019 NBA championship over the Golden State Warriors.

Lowry has made six All-Star teams and one All-NBA team. The Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic will also pursue Lowry on the buyout market, sources told NBA Analysis Network.

However, most people around the NBA believe Lowry will sign with the Sixers since he’s from Philadelphia and played for Nick Nurse in Toronto.

Lowry averaged 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.4 blocks under Nurse with the Raptors.
