Stephen Curry: Warriors 'cannot give in to losing mentality' after fourth straight defeat

The Golden State Warriors fell to third in the Western Conference on Saturday after a surprising 124-116 loss to the reeling Los Angeles Lakers.

It was a fourth straight loss for the Warriors and the Lakers' first win since before the All-Star break. Golden State led by as many as 12 in the second half, but couldn't keep up with the stellar play of LeBron James down the stretch, as the 37-year-old, four-time MVP dropped 56 points for Los Angeles.

"We cannot give in to this losing mentality," Warriors star Stephen Curry told reporters after the loss, via ESPN. "We're not that team, and I'm not going to let us be that team. ... We cannot give in to this losing spirit of just finding different ways to lose basketball games."

Curry did his part with 30 points, but Golden State struggled in several areas, including free throw shooting where the team made just nine of its 19 tries. The other half of the Splash Brothers, Klay Thompson, didn't provide much scoring help with just seven points on 13 field goal attempts.

The Warriors have won just two of their last 10, sliding to a 43-21 record and a half-game behind the Memphis Grizzlies for second place. The Lakers improved to 28-35 and are clinging to ninth place in the Western Conference.
