Eagles' Jason Kelce reveals ultimate Super Bowl motivation

Center Jason Kelce helped the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LII, but losing Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs motivated Kelce to want to earn a second championship ring all the more before he retires.

According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Kelce recently spoke with JAKIB Sports about how his brother and Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce previously noted how losing a Super Bowl game fuels one's passion for pursuing a title. Travis Kelce was already a one-time champion when he and the Chiefs fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV in February 2021.

"Having lost one now, I think for sure — you can try and not let that be a factor, but man, the hunger and the desire to get back there and finish it, even though it’s going to be a completely new season, new set of guys and not the same team, you can’t help but that be a factor," Jason Kelce explained.

Jason and Travis became the first brothers to play for opposing teams in a Super Bowl this past February, and Travis earned his second ring via a thrilling 38–35 Kansas City victory. After Donna Kelce watched her sons play on Super Bowl Sunday, she mentioned this past spring that Jason "knows that he doesn’t have that many years left in the league" and understood he may not receive another chance to ever hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy as a player.

Jason turns 36 years old in November and confirmed via the Eagles' website in March he's playing for at least one more season.

As of early Tuesday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the Chiefs as the betting favorites at +650 odds to win Super Bowl LVIII. The Eagles were second on the list at +800, meaning some sportsbooks believe Jason theoretically could spend his final game as an active player trying to prevent Travis from acquiring Super Bowl ring No. 3 of his Hall of Fame career.
