Donna Kelce shares why Travis Kelce, Jason Kelce wanted to win Super Bowl LVII

Donna Kelce has shared that her sons, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, had unique reasons for wanting to win Super Bowl LVII this past February.

Donna told Jason Jones of The Athletic that Travis "wanted so desperately" to ensure that Kansas City head coach Andy Reid earned the victory on Super Bowl Sunday because the Eagles had once let Reid go and Travis "wanted to give that to" Reid.

Reid famously served as the head coach of the Eagles from 1999 through the 2012 season until the organization controversially announced the end of his tenure on Dec. 31, 2012. As noted by the NFL's website, Kansas City hired Reid just four days later, and he's since guided the Chiefs to a pair of Super Bowl victories.

As for Jason, Donna admitted that the 35-year-old "knows that he doesn’t have that many years left in the league" and also understood the 2022 Eagles were "a special group of people that he wanted to enjoy that win with." While reports from after the Super Bowl suggested Jason could retire, he confirmed via the Eagles' website on March 15 he was returning for at least one more season.

Donna, meanwhile, became a star leading up to the first-ever Super Bowl to feature two brothers playing against each other. The customized jersey and shoes she wore at State Farm Stadium that historic Sunday night were put on display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and her interactions with both of her sons after Kansas City's victory over Philadelphia went viral.

Fortunately for Donna and the rest of the Kelce family, both Travis and Jason already possessed championship rings heading into Super Bowl LVII.

"You’d think they might meet each other in the Super Bowl (one day), but after 10 years, you’re like, that’s never going to happen," Donna told Jones. "And then all of a sudden it does, and it’s almost like you won the lottery."

Not for nothing, but Donna could win "the lottery" again as soon as February 2024 if the Chiefs and Eagles are as good as advertised throughout the upcoming season.
