According to Adam Schefter, recently released running back Ezekiel Elliott has narrowed down his free agent search to three teams and the Eagles are considered one of the finalists for the former Cowboy.

Schefter later reported that Ezekiel Elliott “would like to make his decision about where to sign by the end of next week” and was also considering the Jets and Bengals as teams to choose from.

Are the Philadelphia Eagles about to enter into another DeMarco Murray saga?

Should the Eagles be interested in Ezekiel Elliott?

It’s been a tumultuous few seasons for the former Dallas superstar. Only 28 years old, Elliott has seen his yards per game total decrease every single season since his dominant rookie season. The former fourth-overall pick had a career-worst 3.8 yards per carry average in 2022 and was released by the Cowboys due to a large cap hit.

Philadelphia, on the other hand, is in need of a short-yardage bell cow. The team allowed Miles Sanders to go to Carolina in free agency and replaced him with Rashaad Penny on a one-year deal worth less than a million dollars in guaranteed money.

The Eagles have roughly around $13 million in cap space and could get the former All-Pro for cheap considering he has looked to be on the downside of his career. However, it could very well be a similar experience to former Eagle DeMarco Murray who signed a five-year deal with Philadelphia and lasted only a year with the team.

Elliott is expected to make a decision by the end of next week and that decision could very well alter the entire course of the NFC East.
