Jimmy Garoppolo’s Raiders stats as bad as all-time NFL draft bust

Things couldn't be going a whole lot worse than they are at this moment for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo

It's not often that a player's stats are put up next to a player many believe to be one of the NFL's biggest busts ever, but that's the current state of things for Garoppolo through his first six starts as a member of the Raiders.

It was posted on Instagram by an account called pick.6, which posted the stats of two quarterbacks and their first six starts with the team, but didn't reveal who the players were.

Shortly after JPAFootball posted the graphic, with the stats on the left being revealed as Garoppolo's first six games with the Raiders, and on the right, JaMarcus Russell's first stretch of starts.

To make matters worse, four of the six starts for Russell came during his rookie season in 2007, when he completed just 54.5 percent of his passes for 373 yards, two passing touchdowns and four interceptions.

Obviously, Garoppolo has been in the league since 2014 and has nine years of experience prior to even signing with the Raiders.

Garoppolo started just two games for the New England Patriots, but saw action in 17, then proceeded to start 55 of the 57 games he received playing time in over a six-year span with the San Francisco 49ers.

While the numbers look brutal, it is worth noting that as a whole, Garoppolo's numbers have been far superior in comparison to Russell.

The 31-year-old has thrown for 15,494 yards in the regular season to this point in his career, with 94 passing touchdowns and 51 interceptions. For comparison's sake, Russell played in 31 games, completing more than 15 percent fewer of his pass attempts than Garoppolo (52.1 percent), en route to throwing for 4,083 yards, 18 passing touchdowns and 23 interceptions over a three-year span.
