Justin Herbert ready for first playoff berth with Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert can finally cross making the playoffs off his list of to-dos.

Herbert and the Chargers notched one of the AFC's playoff spots after their win over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

The former Oregon signal caller is predictably pumped for his first playoff push.

"It'll be a lot of fun," Herbert said (via NFL.com). "I'm just excited to be in that atmosphere and to have that opportunity to keep playing football."

Herbert will become the quarterback from the 2020 draft class to lead his team to a playoff spot. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has Cincinnati headed to a second-straight berth. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will be making his playoff debut with Philadelphia in January.

Tua Tagovailoa has led Miami to a potential playoff appearance, but a third concussion this season has his status in question.

If the playoff standings held, the six-seed Chargers would head to three-seed Cincinnati to face the red-hot Bengals. It'd be a showdown of 2020 quarterbacks, with Cincy attempting to make it back to the Super Bowl for a second year.

The Chargers haven't made the playoffs since 2018. However, Herbert and Los Angeles head coach Brandon Staley have their team headed back to the postseason.

Along with Cincinnati, the AFC also features heavyweights like Kansas City, Buffalo and Baltimore. In what's sure to be a dead sprint to the conference title, Los Angeles will have a chance to surprise.
