Watch: Troy Aikman goes off on Derwin James hit

Derwin James was ejected following a massive hit on Ashton Dulin Monday night. Count color commentator Troy Aikman among those that felt the ejection was justified.

The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback said the hit was "as big a collision as I've seen in a long, long time."

Quarterback Nick Foles threw the ball to Dulin as he was crossing the field toward the sideline. James anticipated the pass and laid the Colts wide receiver out after leading with the crown of his helmet.

ESPN officiating analyst Jon Parry said Dulin was a defenseless receiver and that the hit was the kind the league is trying to legislate out of the game.

"You got other options," said Parry in terms of where James could have aimed his tackle.

ESPN's Lisa Salters reported that Dulin was being evaluated for a possible head injury following the massive hit.

Aikman added that James isn't the only person that should receive blame; quarterback Nick Foles is just as deserving of criticism.

Aikman noted that quarterbacks should take some of the responsibility for big hits receivers take by putting them in spots where they are defenseless against oncoming defenders.

James was visibly frustrated as he was escorted to the locker room following his ejection. He made a better play earlier when he came down with a phenomenal interception. Unfortunately, his massive hit will be his most memorable play from Monday night.

While commonplace years ago, those kinds of hits have been frowned upon for years now. Still, for a league that used to celebrate hits of that magnitude with DVD compilations and ESPN's own "Jacked Up" segment, James' hit shows old habits die hard.
