King of Props: Out of the Woods
After the Chargers took him with the sixth pick of the 2020 draft, Justin Herbert sat for a game and then has made 46 consecutive starts. Meanwhile, the Colts have opened each of the last three seasons with a different veteran quarterback – Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan – and now they’re turning to the well-traveled Nick Foles. While he’s unlikely to show the Super Bowl–winning form he flashed with the Eagles, Foles figures to connect with the subject of our top prop:
The bet: Over 19½ receiving yards for Colts tight end Jelani Woods (DraftKings)
Backing rookie tight ends has been a winning proposition lately, and Woods is another who fits the profile. As a senior at Virginia, he made 44 catches for 598 yards and eight touchdowns, earning a third-round selection that was seven picks higher than the Broncos’ Greg Dulcich.
Woods enjoyed a breakout in Week 12, which happened to be the first time he played on "Monday Night Football." He secured eight of his nine targets and finished with 98 yards. That performance came in the absence of fellow tight end Kylen Granson, who is going to miss tonight’s game as well.
With Granson in the mix for the last two games, Woods still cleared this number in each, posting yardage totals of 28 and 36. Against a Chargers defense that allows the most yards per reception to tight ends, Foles-to-Woods should deliver the goods.
