Pitt's Kenny Pickett on hand size: 'Whatever it measures, it measures'

Former Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback and projected first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett raised eyes when he didn't have his hands measured at the Senior Bowl amid concerns some franchises may still have about that final number. Pickett dismissed such takes while explaining he planned to complete exercises and stretches ahead of this week's NFL Scouting Combine. Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi later called any worries related to the signal-caller's hand size "a complete joke."

Pickett found himself discussing the matter once more before measurements are taken Thursday, per Pro Football Focus.

"Whatever it measures, it measures," Pickett remarked, according to Nick Shook of the league's website. "I'm sure that won't be the end of it, but that'll be the last measurement I'm sure I'll take of it."

In his latest mock draft released Tuesday, ESPN expert Mel Kiper Jr. predicted the newly named Washington Commanders will select Pickett 11th overall on the opening night of the draft.

"Pickett is ready to play in the NFL right now," Kiper wrote while also noting: "He's going to be under the microscope at the combine, as we still don't have an official hand size for him. He's expected to have below 9-inch hands, which has been one of the benchmarks for quarterbacks. I'm curious to hear how he does in interviews with teams as well."

CBS Sports' Kyle Stackpole also had Washington drafting Pickett at pick No. 11 for a mock draft published last month. Whether or not forecasts will change by this time next week shall be determined down the road.
