Raiders, NFL sued over Super Bowl ad
A Las Vegas attorney is seeing red over silver and black.
Per Reuters' Diana Novak Jones , the NFL issued a cease-and-desist order to Steve Dimopoulos and the Dimopoulos Law Firm in Las Vegas over a Super Bowl commercial featuring Raiders DE Maxx Crosby. Dimopoulos followed up with a lawsuit against the league and the Raiders.
According to the lawsuit, Crosby's contract for the commercial stated he would only wear the firm's colors and no logos affiliated with the NFL or the Raiders.
However, the law firm's colors are silver and black, the same as the Raiders, so it appears he's wearing a Raiders jersey in the commercial. The firm's logo is a shield, like the Raiders.
The NFL is not pleased, contending the law firm used Raiders marks or similar marks without its authorization.
Dimopoulos contends the colors have been included in the firm's marketing since 2012, before the Raiders moved to Las Vegas. The lawsuit explains that the commercial features no professional sports logos.
The NFL and the Raiders have not commented.
By issuing the cease-and-desist order, the NFL unintentionally gave the commercial more attention than it otherwise would have received.
