Seahawks QB Russell Wilson suggests he's back from finger injury

Seattle Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson shared via social media last week that he had a pin removed from the injured middle finger on his throwing hand after he underwent surgery in early October.

On Monday, coming off Seattle's bye week, Wilson took to Twitter to imply that he's been cleared to return to action ahead of Sunday's matchup at the Green Bay Packers.

Despite the fact that it was originally believed Wilson could be sidelined for up to six weeks because of the injury suffered on Oct. 7, multiple reports had suggested the one-time Super Bowl champion was planning to resume playing in Green Bay. Without Wilson, backup Geno Smith performed admirably for the Seahawks but could only guide the club to a single victory, a 31-7 trouncing of the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars on Halloween.

Wilson's return comes at a time when it's unknown if Packers starting quarterback and reigning Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers will be available after he tested positive for COVID-19 as an unvaccinated player last week. Rodgers violated health and safety protocols on multiple occasions over the past several months, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday the signal-caller will only face fines but no suspension if he receives any punishment from the league.

Per NFL rules, Rodgers cannot rejoin the Packers for football-related activities until Saturday at the earliest.
