Steelers All-Pro Minkah Fitzpatrick on NFI list with wrist injury following bike mishap

Back in June, the Pittsburgh Steelers awarded All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick with a massive four-year contract extension reportedly worth $18.4 million per year with $36 million guaranteed upon signing. Understandably, Fitzpatrick celebrated putting pen to paper on that agreement by taking a vacation ahead of training camp.

It appears the 25-year-old experienced a bit of a mishap while away from the club.

Per Grant Gordon of the NFL's website and Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters on Tuesday that Fitzpatrick is beginning training camp on the active/non-football injury list with a wrist injury that he suffered when he fell off a bike during his vacation.

"It will create some short-term discomfort, but I don’t expect it to be an issue in the overall trajectory in his development and his place in this group and (regular-season game) availability," Tomlin said of the issue, according to Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "We don’t expect it to be significant from a long-term perspective."

For now, Fitzpatrick will join teammates on the field for practices.

Additionally, Pittsburgh defensive lineman Tyson Alualu is on the physically unable to perform list because of a knee injury, specifically swelling after offseason training. It's unclear when Alualu will be able to resume standard activities.
