Steelers two-time All-Pro S Minkah Fitzpatrick becomes NFL's highest-paid safety

It's going to be a nice summer for Minkah Fitzpatrick. The All-Pro safety and the Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to a four-year contract extension worth  $18.4 million per year, with $36 million guaranteed at signing.

The deal will make Fitzpatrick the highest-paid safety in the league.

Since being acquired by Pittsburgh from Miami in 2019, Fitzpatrick has amassed 11 interceptions with three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He's also scored three defensive touchdowns.

Wednesday's signing is the first for the Steelers under new general manager Omar Khan, who took over as GM in May. He was the in-house hire to replace Kevin Colbert, who retired.

The Steelers have been busy so far this offseason preparing for what they hope will be a big 2022 campaign. The team went 9-7-1 last season and earned the final AFC playoff spot at the end of the regular season but was quickly eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs.
