Steelers DT Larry Ogunjobi on Mason Rudolph incident: 'That's just water under the bridge'

Defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi was playing for the Cleveland Browns when he famously shoved Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph to the ground during a 2019 incident involving Cleveland All-Pro pass rusher Myles Garrett.

Pittsburgh signed Ogunjobi to a one-year deal last month, and he later told SiriusXM NFL Radio that Rudolph had reached out to him shortly after that agreement became official. Pittsburgh All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward then explained on his "Not Just Football" podcast last week that Ogunjobi "was very open and upfront about" what happened nearly three whole years ago.

Ogunjobi spoke with media members on Tuesday and, predictably, was asked about his relationship with Rudolph.

"He reached out when I signed," Ogunjobi remarked about the signal-caller, per Noah Strackbein of FanNation's All Steelers. "That's just water under the bridge. That was years ago. I don't have any hard feelings, I don't think he has any hard feelings. I feel as men in this sport, I feel like sometimes we act out of emotion. I was defending my teammate. We reached out, we talked to each other. That was over the day it happened, for me at least."

Ogunjobi is expected to be a significant contributor for Pittsburgh's pass rush, while Rudolph will likely spend the next month competing to either stay on the Pittsburgh roster or earn a trade to a team in need of a quarterback. As it pertains to the Steelers' long-term goals, it's for the best that any potential Ogunjobi-Rudolph controversy disappears as soon as possible.
