WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling on joining Chiefs: 'This was the best place for me'
Just one day after their shocking trade of Tyreek Hill, the Kansas City Chiefs signed Green Bay Packers speedster Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a three-year contract. While he doesn't carry the same resumé of Hill, "MVS" can fly with the best of them and should provide quarterback Patrick Mahomes with another deep threat during the 2022 season.
On Friday, Valdes-Scantling discussed joining Kansas City and exiting Green Bay, among other subjects.
According to Ladd, the 2018 fifth-round draft choice said that Mahomes called him when he landed in his new city and "told me how bad he wanted me." Valdes-Scantling also told media: "I turned down a bunch of other deals for more money because I didn’t want to go lose... It's not always about money."
In 59 career regular season games, the 27-year-old wideout has 123 receptions for 2,153 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. Valdes-Scantling has had issues with drops though, holding just a 49.8% career catch percentage.
