Davante Adams trade to Raiders opened door for Tyreek Hill deal to Dolphins

Last week, the NFL world turned upside-down after the Green Bay Packers dealt star wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in a blockbuster trade

While trade was a shock to many, Adams wasn't the only standout receiver involved in a trade this offseason. On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs moved Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for a slew of draft assets.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was a guest on 560 Sports in Miami Thursday morning, stating that the Adams trade ultimately led to the Dolphins acquiring Hill.

"We had actually worked out a restructure that the Chiefs had wanted a week before, and it really looked like we were going to work toward a contract extension," Rosenhaus told 560 Sports in Miami. "Then the Adams deal really flipped everything upside down. The Chiefs, I think they had the foresight to see that Tyreek was in the last year of his contract, and we weren't going to take a deal that wasn't better than Adams."

The Raiders traded their 2022 first- and second-round picks for Adams before signing him to what was a record deal for a wideout, $140.0 million over five years. The extension will pay Adams $22.75 million at signing, with another $42.92 million guaranteed in 2023.

Adams's distinction as the highest-paid receiver ever was short-lived. Miami inked Hill to a four-year, $120 million extension paying a guaranteed $72.2 million.

Playing in all 17 games in the 2021-22 regular season, Hill finished with a career-high 111 receptions for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns.
