The NHL Playoffs will get at least one more game out of the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche.

Sparingly used forward Tyler Bozak scored just 3:38 into overtime, and the Blues completed a rally to stave off elimination. By beating the Colorado Avalanche 5-4 on Wednesday they push the series to Game 6 back in St. Louis with a chance to extend this to 7.

Prior to the game, Blues head coach Craig Berube wanted to clarify his “no comment” remark prior to Game 4 stating he was not aware of racist remarks made to Nazem Kadri and that he condemns such comments.

“There’s no room for it anywhere,” he said.

NHL Playoffs: Blues 5 vs Avalanche 4

Nathan MacKinnon had a big night recording a hat trick and an assist as the Avs were looking to close out the Blues at home in Game 5.

St. Louis rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie it in the third period, only to see MacKinnon take back the lead with 2:46 remaining.

However, with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker, Robert Thomas added his second goal of the game to tie it with 56 ticks on the clock. That set the stage for Tyler Bozak’s heroics. Skating into the slot area early in the extra session he pumped a shot by Darcy Kuemper to set the Blues bench hopping.

Vladimir Tarasenko and Justin Faulk were the other Blues goal scorers. Meanwhile Nick Leddy picked up four assists in the winning effort. Ville Husso stopped 30 shots to help extend this series.

Gabriel Landeskog picked up the other Avs goal in the contest while Kuemper made 25 stops in the loss.

Tonight’s NHL playoffs action has the New York Rangers in Raleigh looking to take a 3-2 lead over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Calgary Flames are at home looking to avoid elimination against the Edmonton Oilers.
