Celtic defender Alistair Johnston has taken to Instagram to post a cryptic message following his side’s 3-3 draw with Rangers at Ibrox. The Scottish Champions were 2-0 up at half time thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda and a penalty from Matt O’Riley before Rangers came back into the game thanks to a controversial James Tavernier penalty.

With Celtic in control of the game, Johnston and Fabio Silva went to ground in the box. It appeared at the time that John Beaton had correctly called the incident, flashing a yellow card towards the Portuguese winger, who had been throwing himself to the ground at any given opportunity in the first half.

After a VAR check, Beaton pointed to the spot as the images he was shown did not show the contact that AJ had on the ball until after his decision was made. James Tavernier converted the spot kick and Rangers went into the ascendency, probing for an equaliser that they got after 86 minutes through Sima. Celtic responded quickly through Adam Idah before Rabbi Matondo equalised in injury time.

The Canadian Internationalist reposted Celtic’s full-time graphic alongside two emojis that suggested he had something to say about the fact that the game ended a draw.

The post may refer to Philippe Clement’s weird FT comments in which he said that it was a victory for his team or the officiating throughout with regards to Silva’s diving or the decision to award a penalty when he clearly gets the ball.

Celtic need to focus on themselves in the run-in, park this game and accept the point while focusing on winning the remaining six games, which will see the retention of the Premiership title.
