As excitement for Euro 2024 builds, the spotlight is often on the top teams. However, here’s a look at five under-the-radar teams to watch:
Austria has qualified for the past two Euros, reaching the knockout stage in 2020 before losing to Italy, the eventual champions. Under Ralf Rangnick, Austria lost only one qualifier in a close 3-2 match against Belgium.
Despite being in a tough group, Austria could surprise the Netherlands and secure a second-place finish behind France. Key players include Michael Gregoritsch, who scored three goals in six qualifiers, and Christoph Baumgartner, a young midfielder who also netted three times. The midfield, anchored defensively by Marcel Sabitzer and Konrad Laimer, offers depth and freedom for attackers to take risks.
Injuries to David Alaba, Xaver Schlager, and goalkeeper Alexander Schlager are setbacks. Yet, Austria's ability to score freely during qualifiers and their Champions League-level talent make them a team to watch if they avoid further injuries.

Turkey secured their spot in Euro 2024 by topping a group that included World Cup teams Wales and Croatia. They scored the most goals in their group and finished with a +7 goal difference.
Hakan Calhanoglu's creativity and Kerem Akturkoglu's offensive progress have been eye-catching. However, Turkey's defense has been imposing, conceding just seven goals in eight matches. Ugurcan Cakir, especially, has stood out in net, allowing only one goal in three starts.
Turkey’s defensive depth could prove invaluable in a relatively weaker Group F.
Switzerland's inconsistent qualifying cycle hasn't dampened their offensive potential. Despite disappointing draws against Kosovo and Belarus, they still qualified and demonstrated their ability to score, which helped them reach the Round of 16 in the 2022 World Cup.
The Swiss attack is led by Noah Okafor, Ruben Vargas, and Xherdan Shaqiri, while Granit Xhaka commands the midfield after a historic Bundesliga title. With a strong goalkeeping duo in Yann Sommer and Gregor Kobel, Switzerland has the tools to compete effectively.

Hungary represents the quintessential dark horse, boasting talents like Dominik Szoboszlai and Peter Gulacsi. Despite facing a tough group with Germany, Switzerland, and Scotland, Hungary's undefeated qualifying run shows their potential to upset the odds.
Their mix of top-end talent and under-the-radar attackers, like Roland Sallai, could ignite a deep run. Hungary’s resilience and key players' brilliance could see them progress further than expected.
Denmark enters Euro 2024 with significant talent but struggles with consistency and team identity. Jonas Wind and Rasmus Hojlund lead the attack, yet their similar styles make it difficult to integrate them effectively.
The experienced midfield, featuring Christian Norgaard and Christian Eriksen, provides stability, with Mathias Jensen often coming off the bench. Competing with England, Slovakia, and Slovenia in Group C, Denmark needs to find the right tactical approach to succeed. If they can, another successful tournament run could be on the horizon.
