As the end of 2023 approaches, clubs in England have two things in mind. One of them is the winter break where their players will get some much-needed rest. The other is the all-important January transfer window which, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg , some top-flight outfits have already started completing the transfers of key players in hopes of improving their second-half fortunes, with Manchester United being active already.

Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek Closing in on Frankfurt Loan

Reports from Germany

The Sky Sports Germany reporter stated that Donny van de Beek, who is set to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from Manchester United, will have a medical take place and “be finalized by Wednesday.” There will be an option for the German club to pursue a permanent transfer for the Dutchman.

Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller has labelled Van de Beek an “outstandingly good footballer.” The 26-year-old midfielder will provide crucial depth for the German outfit as they contest both domestic and continental campaigns in 2024. Plettenberg previously covered details surrounding the loan, and stated that United “will cover a significant portion of the salary.”

Van de Beek’s Failure to Reinvent Himself at United with Ten Hag

The midfielder joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2020 following his rapid rise at Ajax. The youngster had faced them a few years ago in the Europa League final, ultimately losing, but his 19 Premier League appearances and second Europa League final stint in only his first season at Old Trafford suggested a promising career ahead.

A dip in form during the 2021/22 campaign saw the player get sent on loan to Everton. Playing time was still limited for the Dutchman. He would be reunited with his old coach from Ajax, Erik ten Hag, when he returned to United. 2022/23 was no better for the UEFA Euro U17 runner-up so he now heads to Germany in search of increased minutes on the pitch.
