Bayer Leverkusen became firm favorites to win the Bundesliga after beating title rivals Bayern Munich 3-0 on Saturday.

Goals from Josip Stanisic, Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong left Bayern stunned at BayArena and saw Leverkusen move five points clear at the top of the table.

Frimpong's goal was a spectacular solo strike that punished Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer's decision to go forward for a corner kick in added time.

Neuer was beaten to a cross by a firm header from Jonathan Tah, before Edmond Tapsoba volleyed the ball into Frimpong's path.

Frimpong collected the ball 10 yards inside his own half but he was determined to go for goal.

After evading a sliding challenge from Raphael Guerreiro, Frimpong was forced wide and then put under pressure by two other defenders, while Leroy Sane desperately raced back to try to cover the goal-line.

But Frimpong kept his cool and executed a fine long-range finish from the right wing before sprinting over to the Leverkusen bench to celebrate.

Leverkusen had just 39% of possession on Saturday - way down from their average of 61.5% for the season.

But Alonso's men were still by far the better team and recorded eight shots on target to Bayern's one.

Leverkusen have now recorded 11 clean sheets in the Bundesliga this season and remain undefeated after 21 rounds of fixtures.

Bayern have been champions of Germany in each of the last 11 seasons. Leverkusen have never won the Bundesliga, but have finished second on five occasions.
