Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has shown his humorous side after leaving a hilarious comment on Jesse Lingard’s Instagram post.

Lingard has been without a club for the last six months. His last stint was with Nottingham Forrest. The midfielder spent time with Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, managed by Steven Gerrard, but failed to earn a contract at the club after training with them.

He has since offered his services to Barcelona but a move has failed to materialise for the 31-year old.

Rather than finding a new club, Paul Scholes has ripped into Jesse Lingard for “f***** about” in the gym.

With a series of social media posts, the former West Ham loanee has tried to inform prospective employers about his fitness regime. In his most recent work, Lingard is shown using a variety of exercise machines in the gym.

Scholes could not resist making a comment on Lingard’s Instagram post.

He wrote: “Are you just gonna f*** about in the gym or are you gonna actually play football?”

The comment has now been deleted from Instagram but fans wasted no time to take the screenshot and post it on social media.

Since his last game for Nottingham Forest, which ironically was a two-minute cameo in a 2-0 loss at the City Ground versus the Red Devils, Lingard has not participated in any football match.

After what looked like a promising career for the former Man United youth player at one stage, Lingard has failed to make an impact and build a successful career.

The ex-England international, while speaking about his future in the summer, said: “I’m considering all options.

“I’ve never ruled any team out, any club out, so for me it’s just picking the right team that’s going to be right for me – I just want to play football at the end of the day, that’s all I want to do.

“The project’s got to be well-suited for me, the team’s got to be going in a good direction. Literally, it’s just regular game time – I’m still hungry, working hard out here…”
