Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly keen on signing Andrea Cambiaso during the January transfer window.

An exclusive report from Numero Diez claims that Tottenham wanted to sign the Juventus left-back but he is considered an indispensable asset and therefore the Italian giants rejected the approach immediately.

The report states that Tottenham failed to sign the player despite ‘opening contacts’ with the Italian giants. It’s quite surprising that Tottenham wanted to bring in another left-back in January despite having Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies at their disposal. It is fair to assume that they will have to sell someone before bringing in another left-back.

Udogie has been a key player for Tottenham and he has established himself as a regular starter for them. Davies is more of a squad player now and he is versatile enough to operate as a central defender as well.

The 25-year-old Juventus defender is reportedly target for Real Madrid as well and it will be interesting to see if the Spanish giants decide to make a move for him at the end of the season.

The opportunity to join Real Madrid can be quite exciting for most players. Meanwhile, a move to Tottenham would not have been ideal for Cambiaso. He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and Spurs already have Udogie as the first choice left-back at the club. Cambiaso would have had to compete with the former Udinese defender for the starting spot.
