Packers 'have all but moved on' from Aaron Rodgers?

There's a brand-new indication that the Green Bay Packers will look to trade quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason.

NFL reporter Bob McGinn of Go Long said on Friday that the Packers "have all but moved on from" Rodgers. McGinn added that Green Bay is now "more confident than ever to start Jordan Love."

McGinn isn't the first person to offer such a take. On Jan. 29, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that "league sources believe the franchise prefers to move on from Rodgers, just as it once did with Brett Favre."

Schefter also said that "those sources also believe that Rodgers is well aware of the Packers' feelings on the situation."

During this week's edition of "The Pat McAfee Show," Rodgers blasted Schefter and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network for their coverage of his four-day "darkness retreat." Rodgers said that nobody within his "inner circle" speaks to "any of those people."

Rodgers put pen to paper on a massive extension with the Packers last March but suggested after this past regular season that he could either retire or adjust the contract to orchestrate a trade. The four-time NFL Most Valuable Player has repeatedly been linked with the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders but could decide after his isolation period that he wants to either retire or stay with the Packers.

Ahead of Super Bowl LVII last Sunday, "a few league or team people" told NBC Sports' Peter King there's a perception that Rodgers "might be more trouble than he’s worth" at this point of his career. New York Giants legend Tiki Barber questioned if Rodgers is tough enough to handle playing in the New York market.

Green Bay spent a first-round pick on Love in the 2020 NFL Draft, and the 24-year-old thus far has attempted just 83 career regular-season passes. The Packers must make a decision about the fifth-year option attached to his rookie contract this spring.
