Aaron Rodgers says 'Green Bay is always gonna be home' amid uncertainty

We all know Aaron Rodgers has a decision to make. It's such a big decision, in fact, that the four-time MVP is literally taking a darkness retreat in order to clear his mind.

Really it boils down to this: He could decide to retire, he could say he wants to come back for one more season with the Green Bay Packers or he could ask for a trade. Two of those things are in his control, and if he does hang 'em up or ask for a trade there's reporting out of Green Bay suggesting the Packers will support his decision.

There is one other circumstance that Rodgers may not want to see, though. That scenario would be that he decides he wants to come back for one more season in Green Bay, but the Packers decide to trade him anyway in an effort to finally move on to former first-round pick Jordan Love.

That's the option that may leave Rodgers feeling a bit burned, but he has admitted in the past that the Packers have to do what they feel is in the best interest of the organization.

Whether he stays, goes or is traded, it is worth noting that the future Hall of Famer seems to harbor no ill will towards Green Bay. He was drafted by the Packers with the 24th pick in the 2005 NFL Draft after a now legendary "green room slide", and he's been with the organization ever since -- winning a Super Bowl in 2011 and multiple MVP awards along the way.

"18 years man.. that [Green Bay] is always gonna be home," Rodgers told Pat McAfee and A.J. Hawk in his most recent appearance on McAfee's podcast.

It's noteworthy that Rodgers has a guaranteed option bonus of $58.3 million for 2023 that has to be exercised by March 17, 2023. If he decides to retire, that's a ton of money to walk away from.
