Aaron Rodgers reportedly meeting with Packers this week about future

Green Bay Packers fans may not have to wait long to learn what Aaron Rodgers plans to do regarding the 2023 NFL season. 

Per Kevin Harrish of The Comeback, media personality Pat McAfee confirmed Rodgers isn't making his weekly "Pat McAfee Show" appearance because the future Hall-of-Famer is meeting with the Packers on Tuesday and Wednesday. 

"These are said to be lengthy meetings," McAfee explained. "We don’t know what’s going to come from them, but we do know that next week, Aaron Rodgers Tuesday – live and in action. The week after that, Aaron Rodgers Tuesday – live and in action. So I think we’re going to have a lot of answers for what the future looks like after the next couple of days in Green Bay, in Lambeau, after 12 the quarterback meets with the team. This is something that’s been taking place at least the last couple of years, we don’t know how long it’s been taking place. But Aaron and the Packers are meeting."

Rodgers signed a massive extension with the Packers last March, but the 39-year-old then endured one of the most difficult seasons of his career. According to ESPN stats, he finished the campaign 26th among qualified players with a 39.4 total QBR. While he was seventh with 26 touchdowns through the air, only six quarterbacks tossed more interceptions than Rodgers (12). 

After the Packers were eliminated from the playoffs via this past Sunday's 20-16 home loss to the Detroit Lions, Rodgers indicated he could retire from playing even though he's owed roughly $59 million (that's fully guaranteed, per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio) for the 2023 season. 

"Money is energy, and I have made a ton of it and I’m very thankful for this organization, the generational wealth that they’ve offered me," Rodgers said at that time, according to Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal. "Hopefully (they) feel like that I’ve earned a lot of it. But, yeah, for sure, I can definitely walk away from that."
