Novak Djokovic continues his steady progress at Roland Garros after defeating Cameron Norrie 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. The Serb achieved his 100th victory at the French Open—making it the first Grand Slam where he breaks this mark in his career. This marks his 15th consecutive appearance in at least the tournament's quarterfinals.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion is still on a roll, reaching 8 consecutive wins after his title at the Geneva Open just a week ago. He will seek a spot in the semifinals this Wednesday against Germany's Alexander Zverev (No. 3).

First Set

The first set saw Nole quickly take the lead after a break on his first chance, but the Brit broke back quickly. However, Nole would again go for the break, taking advantage of his opponent's low serving effectiveness to secure the second break as soon as he created a chance, pulling ahead to 3-1.

This time, Nole managed to consolidate his advantage with his serve, demonstrating the efficiency he has been showing in his serve in recent weeks. Norrie managed to defend his serve only once in the 6th game, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback. Djokovic had only a 48% first serve percentage, but his effectiveness was 75%, and he also won 63% of return points. Without a spectacular performance, Djokovic managed to stay ahead and secured a final break before closing the set 6-2. Djokovic's 10 unforced errors were not an issue against his opponent's 15.

Second Set

With some inconsistencies from both sides, Norrie started the second set with a love break, which he then consolidated with his serve to go up 2-0. The joy was short-lived for the former world No. 8, who once again saw Djokovic respond with a break, as the Serb strung together three consecutive games in his favor. This time, Norrie managed to reduce his errors (9 against Djokovic's 15 in the set), but the former No. 1 was better in pressure situations.

The Brit managed to put Djokovic in trouble several times when returning, but Nole held his serve when it was his responsibility. Around 4-3, Norrie started his service game hesitantly, and after a 0-40, Djokovic got the break that gave him the decisive advantage. The three-time Roland Garros champion took 6 of the last 7 games played and comfortably won the set 6-3.

Third Set

In the third set, Djokovic was nearly a steamroller from the start. After both players defended their first service games, the Serb took control of the match from the baseline, securing two consecutive breaks—and a total of five games in a row—putting him up 5-1.

With little else to do, Norrie defended his service game one last time, but had no chance to recover. Nole closed out the match on his serve with a 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 victory, guaranteeing his spot in the Roland Garros quarterfinals after two hours and 15 minutes. Nole continues his run in the tournament without dropping a set, and this time he'll face a greater challenge against none other than world No. 3 Alexander Zverev—the tournament's finalist in 2024.
