Jerry Seinfeld apologizes for 'subtle sexual aspect' of his 2007 'Bee Movie'

Jerry Seinfeld made it clear last week that he has no interest in reviving Seinfeld, whether in a reboot or reunion capacity, but he did revisit another one of his past works on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

"I apologize for what seems to be a certain uncomfortable, subtle sexual aspect of the Bee Movie, which really was not intentional," the 67-year-old comedic legend said, prompting a laugh from Fallon and the audience. "But after it came out, I realized, 'This is really not appropriate for children.' No, it's not. Because the bee seemed to have a thing for the girl, you know, and we don't really want to pursue that as an idea in children's entertainment."

Bee Movie came out in 2007. The animated comedy followed Barry B. Benson (voiced by Seinfeld) after he graduates college and struggles to reconcile that his lone lot for the rest of his life will be to make honey for humans. Barry can communicate with people, however, and develops an attachment to Vanessa (Renee Zellweger). Seinfeld co-wrote the film with Barry Marder and Spike Feresten.

If Bee Movie wasn't your forte, Seinfeld began its five-year stay on Netflix on Friday (Oct. 1). The iconic sitcom originally aired on NBC from 1989 to 1998 to the tune of 10 Primetime Emmys.

"The show has never been out to that many people before," Seinfeld told Fallon of Netflix's 209 million subscribers. "Different countries, different places that have never seen it. It's kinda cool. I'm very excited about it. It's weird to me that the show—these shows go away, and then we breed a new audience, and then it's a new show."
