Team Conrad fans will be thrilled to find out that Christopher Briney will be giving viewers a "perspective change" when he voices one of the episodes in the upcoming season of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
"It's cool to steal the voiceover spot for a little while," the actor told Entertainment Weekly. "It's fun to have the insight. It's fun to have exactly what the subtext is. It makes the scene easier, because that's half the work."
While Lola Tung's Belly will always be our main narrator, we did get an episode with Gavin Casalegno voicing Jeremiah's thoughts in the second season.
"There's a different sort of use of visual storytelling for his perspective," he further explained. "And to be in on that was cool. The goal is to give — as there was the objective for Jeremiah, and as most of the show is for Belly — an idea of what it feels like to live in that person's mind for an episode."
Showrunner and executive producer Jenny Han, who wrote the book trilogy that the series is based on, shared more of what to expect from the character: "He's gone off and done his own thing and has been working on that growth. In some ways you can't help but grow when you're put to the test and you're off on your own. People will see the ways that he's changed and he's seeing the ways that Belly and Jeremiah have changed as well."
She also revealed that the production's first day was "all Chris," with Briney adding that those first scenes are "not in the boooook!"
Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, Jackie Chung, and Rachel Blanchard make up the rest of the cast. The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty will premiere on Wednesday, July 16.
