Fans have waited years (and years) for Stranger Things final season. Now we finally know exactly how much longer it will be until the show returns. Turns out we will actually have to wait three different times. During its latest TUDUM celebration, Netflix shared a release date announcement trailer for Stranger Things 5. This release date teaser promises an emotional, action-packed farewell gift for viewers. However, the actual Stranger Things 5 release schedule is anything but. All three volumes of the final season will premiere on holidays. Is this Vecna’s doing?
Do you enjoy spending the holidays with family and friends? Well, you’d better hope they all like Stranger Things, because otherwise, you’ll have to choose one or the other this year. After Stranger Things 4 had a split release, the show’s fifth and final season is coming in three installments that release at different times. The first four episodes (a.k.a Stranger Things 5, Volume 1) will debut on November 26. That’s also Thanksgiving Eve, a day when many people travel home, get together with old friends, and kick off the holiday season with a night out. That is unless they’re home all night busting their hump prepping a giant meal.
And yet, somehow, Stranger Things 5, Volume 1 has the best of the three Stranger Things 5 release dates. The next three episodes premiere on Christmas, December 25. Yes, Stranger Things 5, Volume 2 releases on Christmas. The finale then follows on New Year’s Eve, a night people are :checks notes: known to go out.
Maybe that wouldn’t be so bad if each Stranger Things 5 volume wasn’t hitting the streaming site at 5 pm PT. But this release schedule means that fans of the show will have to sacrifice part of their celebrationsfor three different holidays!if they hope to avoid any and all spoilers.
Absurd? Ridiculous? Cruel? Malicious? Stranger Things 5‘s premiere dates are so bad that any and all feelings about them are totally valid. This stinks.
So it might be best to instead just focus on what this trailer promises whenever we do actually watch Unlike this holiday-centric Stranger Things 5 release schedule, that is actually a gift.
