With the recent trailer for Jon M. Chu's Wicked: For Good recently dropping, fans are counting down the days until November 21. Well, until then, Jonathan Bailey is giving us some new teasers about what's in store for Fiyero.
"There really is lots of new stuff," he told GQ. "When [Fiyero] leaves with Elphaba and they go to her lair where she’s staying – on stage you just accept that she’s living in a pit of dry ice, but in the film it’s really beautifully realised and thought out by the departments and Cynthia and me."
"Fiyero sacrifices and utilises his power and control and command of the army," the actor continued to add. "It’s darker, and I’ve got a sense it’s going to go there politically as well. Fiyero’s arc really kicks off and he literally is transformed by the end."
The rest of the cast includes Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum.
"Having Michelle play Madame Morrible. Having Cynthia play Elphaba, having me playing Fiyero, what that means," he expressed, reflecting on the impact. "You can perform every night to 1,200 people and that’s extraordinary for those 1,200 people, but a film like Wicked can transcend boundaries."
Before November, fans can see Bailey on the big screen in Jurassic World: Rebirth, alongside Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein.
Johansson praised her co-star, saying, "He’s so twinkly. He’s very alive in the moment. I think sometimes when you say that somebody has a positive outlook it can seem to diminish the fact they’re also deep, because it can appear superficial. But he’s a deep thinker and also incredibly compassionate."
While on the Wicked press tour in 2024, he was paired with Jeff Goldblum, and naturally, Jurassic came up. "We’ll see how it goes, but there might be a few films down the line where me and him can appear in Jurassic together," he commented. "Dr Ian Malcolm and Dr Henry Loomis on a night out."
Jurassic World Rebirth will be released July 2 in theaters.
