Longest home runs of the 2017 season
The 2017 MLB season was a record-breaking season for the long ball. The following slideshow features the longest home runs of the regular season.
496 feet - Aaron Judge, June 11
Judge was the story of the first half of the season, so it's fitting that he also had the longest home run. He hit a mammoth shot to left field in an Orioles blowout.
494 feet - Joey Gallo, Sept. 17
Gallo flashed prodigious power in the minors before this season, but it wasn't until 2017 that he showed consistency. He launched his 38th home run of the year against the Angels to center field.
490 feet - Joey Gallo, Aug. 1
Gallo hit a huge home run to straightaway center field against Seattle starter Erasmo Ramirez in Arlington.
487 feet - Aaron Judge, Sept. 30
Judge surpassed Babe Ruth for most home runs hit at home by a Yankee with his 33rd home run at Yankee Stadium in the final weekend of the season.
483 feet - Kennys Vargas, June 20
Vargas is a big man and primarily a DH for the Twins. He hit an upper-deck shot to left center off Derek Holland, his seventh homer of the year.
483 feet - Chad Pinder, May 20
Pinder had a breakout season for the A's and made his presence felt in May with a big homer to left-center against the Red Sox.
482 feet - Gary Sanchez, Aug. 22
Sanchez showed his huge power immediately upon his arrival to the Yankees last season, and it continued this year. He hit a huge home run to left field at Comerica Park in August.
481 feet - Marcell Ozuna, July 30
While Giancarlo Stanton made most of the headlines for the Marlins this season, Ozuna had the longest home run on the team. He hit a three-run shot off Raisel Iglesias in July that traveled 481 feet.
479 feet - Giancarlo Stanton, Aug. 4
Stanton was easily the leading home run hitter in 2017, and his longest home run came off knuckleballer R.A. Dickey in August.
477 feet - Hanley Ramirez, Sept. 27
Ramirez had a disappointing season but had a long home run during the final week of the season over the Green Monster.
475 feet - Domingo Santana, July 26
Santana hit a long home run off of Nats lefty Gio Gonzalez in the first inning on July 26. It was just one homer in a breakout year for him.
473 feet - Giancarlo Stanton, Sept. 28
Stanton had one of many long home runs during the final week of the season. His 59th home run of the year traveled 473 feet and was his second homer of the game.
470 feet - Giancarlo Stanton, July 19
One of many huge home runs for Stanton came on July 19, when he hit his 30th home run of the year. It was a long shot to center field off of Phillies starter Nick Pivetta.
470 feet - Jorge Soler, May 14
Soler had a disappointing year with the Royals, but he did hit his share of long home runs. His longest came in mid-May against the Orioles.
469 feet - Aaron Judge, Aug. 16
Judge continued to show off his big power in August, hitting a solo home run against the Mets.
469 feet - Charlie Blackmon, July 9
Blackmon had an MVP-caliber year with the Rockies. His longest home run came just before the All-Star break, a huge shot vs. the White Sox at Coors Field.
469 feet - Eric Hosmer, May 5
Hosmer hit a two-run shot in early May off of Cleveland starter Danny Salazar that traveled 469 feet.
468 feet - Aaron Judge, Sept. 3
Judge had plenty of power left in September, hitting a 468-foot home run in a blowout win over the rival Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.
468 feet - Paul Goldschmidt, May 14
Goldschmidt had a tremendous season for the Diamondbacks, and his longest home run came in May with a huge shot to center field off of Ivan Nova.
468 feet - Jake Lamb, April 29
Lamb showed signs he was headed for a great year in April. He hit his longest home run of the year against the Rockies on April 29.
467 feet - Josh Donaldson, Aug. 13
Donaldson hit a two-run homer against Pittsburgh on Aug. 13. He was able to salvage an injury-plagued start to his season with a hot streak late in the year.
467 feet - Bryce Harper, July 22
Harper missed time late in the year with a knee injury, but before that point he showed plenty of power, including a long homer at Chase Field in July.
467 feet - Abraham Almonte, July 16
Almonte saw limited playing time this season, but he did hit a huge home run for the Indians in mid-July vs. the A's.
467 feet - Brandon Moss, July 1
A large number of Moss's hits this season were home runs, and he hit his longest off of Twins starter Jose Berrios in July at Kauffman Stadium.
467 feet - Kyle Schwarber, June 14
Schwarber was able to make up for lost time after a slow start. His longest homer was in mid-June against the Mets.
467 feet - George Springer, May 31
Springer regularly flashed huge power as Houston's leadoff man. His longest home run came at Minnesota in May.
467 feet - Marcell Ozuna, May 3
Ozuna hit his second longest home run of the year against the Rays in early May.
