NFL futures: Season-long interception bets to make
There is just one more season-long player stats market we have yet to dig into: Interception totals.
NFL futures: Season-long bets to make
Rushing yards | Receiving TDs | Receiving yards | Passing TDs | Passing yards
We wrap this series with a look at a few season-long cornerback bets to consider, and of all the stats we've dug into, this market offered us by far the fewest options, very much focused on the incoming rookie class. Fret not, we've got two bets to back.
Quinyon Mitchell under 2.5 interceptions (-150 DraftKings)
Quinyon Mitchell was the first cornerback taken in this year's draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, and by all accounts, he seems set to grow into one of the league's better corners.
The issue in 2024 though is that Philly is suddenly flush with corner talent that makes this a crowded room, there is appearing to be no sure thing that Mitchell even starts this season. All reports out of their mini-camp are that corners Isaiah Rodgers (formerly of the Colts who was suspended for a year for gambling) and former Georgia standout CB Kelee Ringo (entering his second season) are legitimate threats to take on CB2 duties* opposite Darius Slay.
That much competition should breed success, but if Mitchell is not even a starting corner this season, his season-long INT market has to favor the under, making this one of our favorite futures to consider investing in.
*While James Bradberry is still on the team's roster, it's not likely he is on the team by September, either by trade or via release.
Terrion Arnold over 2.5 interceptions (+120 DraftKings)
The next rookie taken in the draft was Alabama's Terrion Arnold, selected by the Detroit Lions. Arnold, unlike Mitchell, does seem to have a clear path to a starting role in Year One for Detroit, a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
Arnold slots in as one of the Lions best defensive backs from the jump, forming a potentially lethal 1-2 secondary punch with former teammate Brian Branch. Teams are likely to be passing against Detroit quite a bit as the Lions explosive offense is expected to pour on points, which should give Arnold plenty of opportunities to log 3+ picks in his rookie season. We like the over, especially at this price.
