Hayden Christensen is defending his divisive work on Star Wars’ prequel trilogy.

Speaking with Empire, the Anakin Skywalker actor suggests some fans went into the films with the wrong mindset.

“That sort of criticism, I think, comes from a certain failure of their own suspension of disbelief,” says Christensen.

“The opening scroll starts with, 'A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away'. That’s setting the stage that anything is possible. These people don’t need to sound and behave the way that we might expect."

While that doesn’t justify some legendarily awful dialogue and wooden acting present in all three Star Wars prequels, Christensen’s right to highlight his unfair treatment at the time.

Fans are starting to look back more fondly on his two starring roles in 2002’s Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

So much so that Christensen’s firmly back in the Star Wars fold. He reprised his role to great effect in Ahsoka, and has more projects in the sci-fi universe lined up. Yep, Hayden Christensen isn’t done with Star Wars.
