"Welcome to Wrexham" trailer drops amid historic club promotion

Wrexham, the Wales-based soccer club in the English Football League with celebrity owners, have earned a third promotion in a row. The club will play next season in the English Football League Championship, the second-highest level of soccer. That's just below the Premier League!

Wrexham is being joined by Birmingham, who also has a celebrity owner. If you want some of the soccer details on that front, Yardbarker has you covered. However, there's an entertainment side to this, and that's in the form of docuseries "Welcome to Wrexham." The trailer for the fourth season of that show has now been released. Check it out:

The FX series has chronicled the ups and downs (mostly ups, clearly) of Wrexham ever since it was bought by "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star Rob McElhenney and movie star/entrepreneur Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds likes to have his money in different businesses, as anybody who has heard 100 Mint Mobile ads on podcasts can tell you. "Welcome to Wrexham" was a marketing tool for the club and cheap content for FX, and it has worked out on both fronts in a big way.

With the move up to League One, Wrexham found itself in the same level of competition as Birmingham City. Fans of English soccer know that Birmingham is not a club on the same historical tier as Wrexham. It was a consistent Premier League presence in the 2000s, and it spent over a decade in the Championship before dropping down to League One. They are also now known for being the club co-owned by Tom Brady.

So now, the fourth season of "Welcome to Wrexham" can boast not just Reynolds and McElhenney, but apparently plenty of Brady as well. Oh, and the guys who actually play soccer and the Welsh folks who have been living and dying with this club before anybody famous owned it.

The fourth season premieres on May 15, and can be seen on Hulu as well.
