Going country seems to be the trend in 2024—Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, and Ed Sheeran have led a new pack of artists into the country genre. Can we expect some Post Malone country hits? The writing appears to be on the wall.

At the recent American Rodeo in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Post Malone paid tribute to the late, great Toby Keith by sipping from a Red Solo Cup and covering Keith’s ‘As Good as I Once Was.’ Malone shared a clip of his performance to TikTok; as of today, March17, it has 2.3 million views, and Posty fans seem to unite for one big request:

“Come on Posty! We are so ready for that country album!”

“Sir. I’m now begging for a country album.”

Shortly after his American performance, Malone dropped a snippet of a country song entitled “Missin’ You Like This,” according to the American Songwriter. The Instagram video has over 300,000 likes. Thousands of people liked a comment from a fan, “WE DEMAND THE COUNTRY ALBUM NOW COWBOY.”

The teaser has all the makings of a country hit, “I knew for a night that I’d be drinkin’ about you. But it’s years gone by, and I’m still dreamin’ about you. Cross my heart til I die. I swear to God I would’ve never done what I did if I knew I’d be missin' you like this.” It’s a classic blend of country and Posty.

Considering his country-infused rendition of “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl earlier this year and his country collaborations at the Country Music Association Awards, Posty may be preparing to explore the country genre.

Malone has teased a collaboration with Luke Combs. Brad Paisley recently said he and Malone have worked in the studio together.

“He’s amazing. I love him. He’s the greatest guy, and he loves country music. We’ll see if we do something. You never know,” Paisley said during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

While we’re unsure if Posty is working on a country music album, 2024 has proven to be a big year for crossover artists. Beyonce’s upcoming “Cowboy Carter” album, which is set to release on March 29, has fans of pop and country reveling in excitement. Notably, Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which dropped in February, catapulted her to the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, making her the first Black woman to top the chart.
