Issa Rae cleverly confirms marriage to Louis Diame

If only we could see Issa Dee's reaction to Issa Rae's wedding announcement.

The Insecure star confirmed her marriage to Louis Diame on Monday (July 26) in a way only she can:

Rae jokingly described her wedding as an "impromptu photo shoot" in her custom Vera Wang wedding gown, for which "my girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress!"

"Then I took a few flicks with Somebody's Husband," the 36-year-old quipped.

The post's location tag is Saint-Jean-Cap Ferrat, a commune off of France's southeastern coast.

Rae's engagement to Diame was publicly confirmed to Entertainment Tonight by her Insecure co-stars on the 2019 NCAAP Image Awards red carpet, though Rae has intentionally kept her private life very private.

"I just feel super protective of any relationship I'm in," the five-time Emmy nominee said for the May 2021 issue of Rolling Stone. "That's come from observing and making fun of people over the years who broadcast the most intimate parts of their relationships, then are left with egg on their face. I call them the 'me and my boo' people. Let me embarrass myself."

"I know how I am as a consumer, as a stan of people, and what I look for. I had the foresight to shield myself from what anybody who was looking for anything on me would try to find, because I know this culture," Rae told writer Brittany Spanos in the cover story. "Internet culture is weird and malicious. I've just worked really hard to protect myself from the ugliest parts of it."

While Rae has just begun a very exciting personal chapter, her professional landscape is also about to change. Insecure will wrap its shape-shifting HBO run with a forthcoming fifth season, but Rae is developing Rap Sh*t for HBO Max.
