Tiffany Haddish shares plan to reach EGOT status

Tiffany Haddish is halfway to becoming the 17th EGOT winner in history, having claimed an Emmy in 2018 as an outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for hosting Saturday Night Live and becoming the first Black woman since Whoopi Goldberg in 1986 to snag a Grammy for best comedy album.

The 41-year-old actress and comedienne, dazzling with pink hair and a matching sparkling pink outfit, stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden to discuss her plan for capturing Oscar and Tony awards:

"Let me tell you something: initially, was not a goal of mine. My goal is just to bring joy and happiness to others, to entertain and make a s—t ton of money. But now that everybody's talking about the EGOT, I'm thinking about it. I'm thinking about, oh yes, how can I do it? And I saw you in Cats, OK? I saw you, boo. And it made me think, if he could do it, I could do it."

This is where Corden interrupted to NOT do something like the 2019 film Cats, which everybody from cast members to viewers recognized as an unmitigated failure.

Back to Haddish's plan: "A Tony would be super dope, and I would love to be in Damn Yankees because I feel like that's something I go through in life, and I would be the character Lola, but we'd change her name to Tiffany. ... I would kill it."

Haddish then hilariously walked Corden through how she used to secretly record casting directors during her early-career auditions, her recent 30-day vegan journey as well as her new film Here Today:

The duo executed a bit called "Side Effects May Include," detailing the side effects of society opening up post-COVID, too:

Here Today , directed and co-written by Billy Crystal, stars Crystal opposite Haddish as a washed-up comedy writer and whimsical street performer respectively who form an unlikely friendship. The comedic drama hits theaters Friday (May 7).

Haddish also hosts CBS's Kids Say the Darndest Things reboot, set to return for its second season Wednesday (May 5) beginning at 8 p.m. EST.
