Kaley Cuoco, Karl Cook announce divorce 'despite a deep love and respect for one another'

Kaley Cuoco and Karl Cook celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary in June, but the couple announced Friday (Sept. 3) that the relationship is ending.

Cuoco, 35, and Cook, 30, shared the news in a joint statement to People:

"Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions. We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together. There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary.

"We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further."

Cuoco is best known for her role of Penny on The Big Bang Theory and, more recently, her lead role of Cassie on The Flight Attendant. The latter has earned her two Primetime Emmy nominations.

Cook is a professional equestrian, which is a shared passion for Cuoco.

Cuoco was previously married to former professional tennis player Ryan Sweeting. The exes were engaged in September 2013, married in December 2013 but broke up 21 months after their wedding.
